How to Apply and Remove Command™ Curtain Rod Hooks

There are important tips to know, and follow, before applying Command™ Curtain Rod Hooks to ensure they hold up to your needs:

- Wait 7 days after painting before use

- DO NOT use on wallpaper, fabric, textured walls, brick, or rough surfaces

- DO NOT hang over beds

- DO NOT hang frames on hooks

- Keep children away from curtains

- Use indoors at temperatures between 50° to 105°F (10° to 40°C)

- Mark the walls lightly with pencil where the rods will be placed

- Measure the same distance above the window frame on each side to level

- Hang 4 ¬to 12 inches past the frame and 2 to 6 inches above the window

- Compatible with rods up to 3/4 inches in diameter

Failure to follow instructions carefully may cause damage.

How to Apply Curtain Rod Hooks

  • Person cleaning a wall with a cloth.

    Step 1: Clean surface with rubbing alcohol. Do not use household cleaners or water.

  • Hands show pressing the strips onto the mounting base.

    Step 2: Separate strips. Remove red liners. Press two strips onto the mounting base.

  • Hands show removing the black liners from the strips and pressing the hook against the wall.

    Step 3: Remove black liner(s). Press hook onto wall and hold for 10 seconds.

  • Step 4 - Hand and an arrow show removing the hook from the baseplate by sliding up and off.

    Step 4: Temporarily remove hook from wall to reinforce strips. Slide hook up and off base.

  • Step 5 - Hands show pressing the base to the wall.

    Step 5: Press base to the wall firmly for 30 seconds.

  • Step 6 - Slide the hook back on, Wait 1 hour for adhesive to build.

How to Remove Curtain Rod Hooks

Learn the proper way to remove Command™ Hooks.

  • Hands slide hook up and off mounting base.

    Step 1: Slide hook up and off mounting base.

  • Hands holding mounting base in place.

    Step 2: With one hand, gently hold mounting base in place.

  • Hands pull the strips down against the wall to remove.

    Step 3: With the other hand, gently stretch the strip tab straight down along the wall at least 15 inches to release. Never pull the strip toward you. Always go slow and pull straight down.

Painted walls, painted or varnished wood, painted cinder block or concrete, tile, metal, glass, laminates, or smooth solid surfaces are all approved damage-free hanging surfaces for Command™ Products.
