Safety first!

No matter how big or how small your display is, it’s important to take proper safety precautions like using ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlets to avoid shocking yourself and visitors.

Don’t burn out

Test the lights before you start hanging them.

Mix up your lights

LED bulbs in cool white look very different than bulbs in warm white. Combining them in the display will help create a more dynamic effect.

Be creative

Use damage-free Command™ Outdoor Light Clips to string lights and garland in various holiday shapes, such as a tree or star on the garage.

Quality over quantity

Don’t overwhelm your home with decorations and lights. Small light displays can often times have a greater impact.

Cast a net

Use net lighting to save yourself time for bushes or trees. Doing so ensures even spacing between lights.

Pick a theme

Whether you like snowmen and snowflakes or penguins and polar bears, choose a theme to tie your display together. Then, enhance your display with light fixtures that align with your theme.

Accent with color

Choose colorful lights to enhance certain areas of the home. A simple way to add a pop of color is to string blue or red lights around small holiday wreaths, hang them on each window of the home using Command™ Outdoor Window Hook.

Time out

Use timers to set your lights to set your lights on and off. Doing so will prevent you from forgetting to turn them off overnight, and will help save money on your electric bill throughout the season.
